Kodomo no Jikan - Episode 01

I recently just came across the title and decided to check it out.

It's Aoki's first day working as a 3rd grade homeroom teacher. Feeling confident enough to fulfill his duties and make a good impression, he makes his way to his class. Upon opening the door, he greets his class enthusiastically although he stops midway realizing that he had just walked in on a class filled with naked 3rd graders.

While taking class attendance, Rin proposes to be Aoki's girlfriend. Meanwhile, Aoki notices that one of the students, namely Mimi, hasn't been showing up to class. He consults some of his colleagues about the matter and finds out later that Mimi had been verbally harassed numerous times by the previous homeroom teacher. Rin also makes this clear to him when the two of them discuss about it after class. Aoki takes it upon himself to visit Mimi in hopes of making her feel better and motivate her to go back to school.

Next day during lunch time, Rin, Kuro and Mimi are off to feed the black cat that wanders around their school grounds but to Rin's shock, the cat had apparently climbed up a tree and has gotten stuck. Kuro rushes off to the teachers lounge and asks Aoki to help Rin since she too had climbed up the tree. Aoki and Kuro gets back to the tree and just as Rin is about to grab the cat, she slips off the tree. Rin opens her eyes and to her surprise, she was able to grab the cat and safely gets off her. Aoki is knocked out from the fall and Rin yells shouts for Aoki to not die.

In the school's infirmary, Rin and Mimi are both standing beside Aoki's bedside. Kuro runs to them and tells them that they should head back to class since one of the teachers will take care of him. Mimi heads back to class with Kuro while Rin remains for a while and gives Aoki a kiss on his forehead before she leaves.

Aoki wakes up to find Houin by his bedside. The two have a little chat after. Houin asks if Aoki wants to go have dinner with her and he humbly accepts the offer. Houin goes off to grab her belongings, leaving Aoki alone in the hallway when Rin, Mimi, and Kuro show up by the stairway. Rin rewards Aoki for saving her by having Kuro, Mimi and herself lift up their skirts in front of a shocked Aoki only to reveal "bloomers" instead of panties. He then chases after the three.

Thoughts:

Well, this is my first time watching an anime with a sort of "loli" theme. Although I'm not much of a big fan of the whole "loli" genre and whatnot, I actually enjoyed this anime.

First of all, the OP for the anime was kawaii in my opinion. The song, accompanied by the animation made it seem adorable with the whole teacher-student-chase and the fast-paced melody and lyrics. I was more enthralled with the ED though and was also amused by the animation that accompanied it.

Moving on to the actual anime itself.. like I said earlier, I'm not much of a "loli" fan but this anime made me appreciate it more. The anime, I guess to its core, is of "loli" themed. Like, come on.. How can you say "no" to three (very) young and cute girls who're likely to know more about sex than their homeroom teacher? To my surprise, there was once scene were Aoki has the whole class write "Hope" in Kanji (if I'm not mistaken) and Rin approaches him with her paper that reads "I "Hope" you ejaculate inside of me". Shocking! Although I found that amusing at the same time considering how young Rin was to be able to write such lewd words and still look innocent.

The characters are nicely drawn, although probably not presented the best way in the first episode. The anime has more to show in terms of character development and plot which I hope will be evident in later episodes as I haven`t read the manga version.

All in all, Kodomo no Jikan definitely has its share of ecchi-ness added with a bit of romance and comedy, you can definitely not go wrong. I`m definitely looking forward to finishing this anime.
